ABOUT ME

"Hi, I’m Keely Jakobsen, a Certified Pilates Instructor & Dressage Trainer.

Movement has always been part of my life, but it wasn’t until I discovered Pilates in my forties, that I truly learned how to connect with my body, protect my joints, and feel strong in everyday life.

My teaching focuses on correct technique and mindful movement, supporting strength, stability, and body awareness while respecting the original Pilates method.

As a 48 year old mother of two with a background in Equestrian Biomechanics, I bring a deeper understanding of alignment, balance, and functional movement.

I offer open-level mat classes focused on women’s wellness—building core strength, improving posture and balance, and moving in a sustainable, joint-friendly way.

Alongside my own Group & Private Classes, in Malta I currently teach at leading fitness centres including Hilton Living Well & Cynergi.

My approach is supportive and welcoming, whether you’re new to Pilates or returning to movement.  For me, Pilates is more than exercise—it’s a way to feel strong, balanced, and connected every day."

Why Pilates for Women?

Pilates offers a beautifully balanced and intelligent approach to movement, designed to strengthen, lengthen, and refine the body in a way that feels both effortless and deeply restorative. It’s a low-impact practice ideal for women seeking a more mindful, elegant way to care for their bodies at every stage of life.
At its core, Pilates develops deep, internal strength, particularly through the abdominal and postural muscles. This creates a naturally toned, sculpted silhouette while supporting the spine and easing tension in the back, neck, and shoulders.
During perimenopause and menopause, when the body can feel unfamiliar or out of balance, Pilates becomes especially valuable. It helps to support hormonal changes by reducing stress levels, improving sleep quality, and gently boosting energy. The focus on strength and weight-bearing movement can also contribute to maintaining bone density, while improving joint stability and reducing stiffness.
Many women find it particularly beneficial for managing common symptoms such as fatigue, low mood, brain fog, and increased tension in the body. The emphasis on breath and controlled movement helps regulate the nervous system, offering a sense of calm, clarity, and reconnection.
Pilates also enhances flexibility and fluidity, encouraging graceful, confident movement. Over time, you may notice improved posture, a more lifted, aligned stance, and a subtle yet beautiful refinement in the way your body both looks and feels.

Benefits of Matwork

The deepest benefits of Pilates are found on the Mat.

On the mat, your body becomes the machine. Instead of relying on springs, pulleys, or gym equipment to facilitate movement, you develop true strength through awareness, control, and precision. Every exercise asks your body to organize itself, engage the right muscles, and move with intention.

This creates a full-body workout that builds deep core strength, mobility, and stability at the same time.

Mat work also develops something essential in Pilates: body awareness and self-control. Without the feedback of machines, you become more tuned in to alignment, breath, and the subtle coordination that makes movement efficient and safe.

Props like small balls, bands, and rings can still be used to add variety and resistance, challenge stability, or assist when needed—but they never replace the work your body must do itself.

Mat work is the purest expression of the method—accessible, powerful, and incredibly effective.

Just a mat, your body and mindful movement.
